SRJC Theatre Arts presents David O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show

Brad and Janet in the Rocky Horror ShowOctober 17, 2024, Santa Rosa, CA – Santa Rosa Junior College Theatre Arts is thrilled to present David O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show, the original musical that inspired the cult classic film. The production premiers on Halloween night, Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Main Stage Theatre in Burbank Auditorium.

SRJC Theatre Arts’ production of David O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show is a raucous, rowdy, and irreverent musical romp, riffing on the classic tale of Dr. Frankenstein. Follow the misadventures of Brad and Janet, an innocent couple whose car breaks down on a stormy night, leading them to the bizarre castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a mad scientist and self-proclaimed 'sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania.' As they encounter an eccentric array of characters, including the iconic Rocky himself, audiences are swept away on a whirlwind journey of rock music, campy humor, and gender-bending delights. With its infectious tunes, daring themes, and interactive audience participation, “The Rocky Horror Show” is a cult classic that guarantees a wild and unforgettable theatrical experience.

The talented ensemble cast, directed by Theatre Arts faculty Justin Smith, invites the audience to “not just Dream it, but Be it!” Reserved seating available in Rocky’s Play Pen for those fans that want to dance and sing along with their favorites, including “The Time Warp”. The show opens on Halloween night and includes a special midnight show on Friday November 8th. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
