Santa Rosa Junior College Named 2025 Pathway Champion of Equity for Black Transfer-Level Math Success

SRJC StudentsOctober 9, 2025, Santa Rosa, CA — The Campaign for College Opportunity has named Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) a 2025 Pathway Champion of Equity, recognizing the college’s leadership in advancing equitable student outcomes and its success in supporting Black students’ completion of transfer-level math within one year of enrollment.

The Black Transfer-Level Math Success award honors California community colleges with the highest percentage of Black students achieving this milestone. SRJC’s recognition highlights its intentional efforts to close equity gaps and foster academic achievement through inclusive teaching practices, strong student support systems, and campus-wide collaboration.

Since the passage of AB 705 and AB 1705, California community colleges have made historic progress in placing students directly into transfer-level courses—helping to remove barriers and accelerate pathways to degree completion and transfer. SRJC continues to demonstrate that equity and excellence can go hand in hand, with data-driven practices designed to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.

“Equity work shows up in the classroom through how we teach, how we support, and how we believe in students’ ability to succeed,” said SRJC Superintendent/President, Dr. Angélica Garcia. “Students’ success in transfer-level math reflects what’s possible when a college commits to meeting students where they are and walking with them toward their goals. We are honored to receive this recognition as a reflection of what’s possible when we put students’ success at the center of our work.”

The Campaign for College Opportunity, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding college access and completion for all Californians, will honor SRJC and fellow awardees during the Pathway Champions: Celebrating Colleges Building Seamless Paths to Student Success event on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 10:00–11:30 a.m., in celebration of National Transfer Week.
