Banner Update: September 24, 2026

September 24, 2026

Dear SRJC Community,

In an ongoing effort to provide transparent communication, this update includes how the joint SRJC and Ellucian teams continue to make progress on Banner issues.  While I normally provide an update on the five priority areas (Financial Aid, Enrollment, Spring Registration, Integrations, and User Experience), this week I am providing a more comprehensive perspective on the work we are currently focused on.

There have been a number of questions about priorities and how the work is being organized. Since my September 18th message, I have continued to work with the SRJC team to ensure that all concerns and reported challenges are being captured. There are several spaces being used across the District and by Ellucian to track issues, tickets, testing, projects, and other work to support the distinct needs of different classification groups. To help provide greater clarity, below is the shared list of priorities that SRJC and Ellucian have agreed to focus on during the current sprint, which is a term that identifies the focused pace of work within a set of dates, often weekly, and runs from September 14 through September 27.

This is not a list of every Banner issue, nor does it mean that work outside of this list has stopped. Rather, these are the items that the joint team has identified for concentrated attention during this sprint based on operational impact, dependencies, and current needs. The sprint prioritizes those issues that have the most immediate impact to students.

Going forward, updates to the joint sprint priorities listed below will be included in the SIS Transition Updates provided by Vice President Robert Holcomb and Vice President Molly Senecal. The list will change from sprint to sprint, and individual items may also move as testing and validation occur. My goal is to provide greater visibility into what the teams are actively working on without creating artificial timelines before we know that work has been successfully completed and validated.

The current priorities and their status are:

Some of these priorities cross more than one of the five areas and many also have dependencies on other work. That is part of why priorities will shift as testing occurs, an issue is resolved, or the team identifies a downstream impact that needs to be addressed first.

I recognize that there are still issues that are not reflected on this sprint list of items and that many employees and students are waiting for resolution to concerns they have raised. Those concerns have not been lost. Employee and Student Help Desk tickets, Distance Education support tickets, and email inquiries are being closely monitored and supported.  Please note that all these issues continue to be tracked, and this sprint list represents the areas where SRJC and Ellucian are concentrating resources right now.

I also recognize the frustration and uncertainty this work continues to create for students and employees. We still have significant work ahead of us, but progress is being made. I will continue to share where we are making progress, where challenges remain, and what the teams are focusing on next.

Thank you to the faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and students who continue to identify issues, participate in testing, provide feedback, and support our students and one another through this work.
