Dear SRJC Community,
The joint SRJC and Ellucian teams continue to make progress on Banner issues and work remains focused on five areas: Financial Aid, Enrollment, Spring Registration, Integrations and User Experience.
Below is the progress that has been made this week:
- Financial Aid
- Work continues to improve the accuracy and reliability of financial aid information and processes. Recent progress includes completing an aid data load that now runs significantly faster, moving satisfactory academic progress renewal grade work into validation, and advancing federal drawdown reporting.
- While the teams are continuing work on financial aid eligibility corrections so that more processes can be applied automatically through the system, it is important to know that students are receiving their financial aid.
- Vice President of Student Services Molly Senecal will be providing more details regarding financial aid processing and disbursements on Monday, September 21 to students and employees.
- Enrollment
- The teams continue to address issues that affect students as they enroll and make changes to their schedules. This includes corrections to drop and refund deadlines, cleanup of data that supports enrollment processes, and continued testing and validation to ensure students can access the courses and services for which they are eligible.
- Spring Registration
- The Fall 2026 graduation application was completed in time for the given September 15th deadline. Students can now apply for the active degree or certificate options currently listed on their Banner record.
- The script that updates self-guided placement data in Banner has been completed and has finished validation testing.
- The work on the underlying tables that support Student Transcripts and Grade History have been moved to validation testing.
- Integrations
- The teams are continuing to improve the accuracy and reliability of information moving between Banner and the other systems SRJC relies on for various functions.
- Recent work includes closing an issue affecting the Medicat file delivery and moving the Symplicity Accommodate extract into validation.
- BankMobile enrollment and demographic extracts are also being reworked following validation, with additional testing underway.
- User Experience
- Work continues to make Banner and Self Service easier and more accessible for students and employees.
- This includes accessibility improvements to meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards in Registration Self Service, with additional work underway for Prepare for Registration, Browse Classes, and Browse Course Catalog.
- The teams are also addressing usability issues related to census and roster certification.
I have been asked for a detailed list of Banner priorities, including timelines for when individual issues will be addressed. I understand why colleagues want this information, particularly those who have submitted an issue and are waiting for a resolution. Transparency matters, and we have a responsibility to communicate openly about what has been resolved, what is underway, and where challenges remain. At the same time, a list with priorities and dates could quickly become inaccurate or create expectations that no longer reflect the work in progress.
A prioritization list will not be released because the work is changing too quickly for dates to remain accurate. Priorities may need to shift as issues are resolved, new information becomes available, or downstream impacts are identified. Instead, I will continue to provide consistent updates on completed work across the five areas identified above. Those communications can be found online. This approach allows for transparency while reflecting the way the work is actually unfolding.
I also recognize the tension and uncertainty this work has created for students and employees. You may be feeling tired, frustrated, and do not yet feel confident that your concerns are being heard or that enough progress is being made. Those concerns are real and I will continue to listen and share the progress we are making and the good work happening across SRJC.
