Continued Commitment & Updates on Activities to Support Undocumented Students

March 7, 2025
Dear SRJC Community,

I am writing to share an update on SRJC’s activities in support of students, primarily those affected by the uncertainty and fear surrounding immigration policies and enforcement.  Since my last communication on February 12, our environment has remained turbulent, marked by rhetoric and actions that generate anxiety and confusion at a national level. In response, we remain focused on our mission to provide stability, support, and clarity for students, faculty, and the community at large.

This work is ongoing, and I am grateful for the collective efforts of our community at SRJC, as well as the broader network of community colleges. I remain in close connection with fellow college leaders who are actively collaborating to share insights, resources, and strategies that strengthen our ability to support students and our communities.

Below are the activities the District has taken since our last update to strengthen SRJC’s commitment to undocumented students and ensure our procedures, training, and resources remain accessible and actionable.

Activities Update:

Administrative Procedure (AP): College Council reviewed AP 3415 Immigration Enforcement Activities on March 6. This serves as our official guidance on responding to immigration enforcement activities.

Trainings & Support:  We hosted multiple training sessions, including:

  • PDA Day (Feb. 14); Department Chairs Council Instructional Management (DCCIM) Training (Feb. 18); Petaluma Faculty Forum (Feb. 25) and other individual department training.
  • Upcoming Training: On March 11, we will hold a Zoom training session from 12-1PM, focused on Supporting Undocumented Students at SRJC – Protocols and Procedures. Register Here.
  • We also provided training for students, including sessions in English and Spanish. Several Know Your Rights workshops have been held, with more being scheduled. Details are available on the SRJC events calendar.

Website enhancements: We have added a new resource page to the Undocu Immigrant Dream Center website called the “Immigration Enforcement Activities – Frequently Asked Questions,” which provides quick access to critical immigration enforcement activity information and resources. Additional site enhancements are expected in the next few weeks, along with a feature on the SRJC Homepage.

Resources: We have developed several resources for SRJC Immigration Enforcement Activities. These can all be found on the new Immigration Enforcement Activities page:

I encourage you to stay informed, make use of available resources, and continue your excellent work at SRJC.  The strength of our community lies in our ability to stay grounded in facts, uplift students, and create a campus where all individuals can pursue their educational goals without fear.

We will continue to monitor the evolving political and legislative landscape and will provide updates as soon as it is feasible and appropriate.

Thank you for your dedication, compassion, and resilience.
