Dear SRJC Community,

In 2014 Santa Rosa Junior College was officially recognized as an Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), a designation that reflects our commitment to serving Latinx students and advancing equity and inclusion for all. Being an HSI is a powerful acknowledgment of our commitment to serving and uplifting the diverse students, families, and communities that shape SRJC. It reflects our dedication to creating pathways for success, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring that all students have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Over the last ten years, we have worked to embed our HSI identity into the fabric of SRJC. Now, more than ever, it is essential that we publicly advocate for creating a learning environment where everyone belongs and has the support they need to succeed.

The New SRJC HSI Visual Representation

Today, we are excited to unveil two new visual representations of SRJC’s HSI commitment:

HSI Logo

HSI Identity mark: Inspired by the warmth and vitality of the sun, a powerful symbol in Latinx culture, the design aligns with SRJC’s identity ecosystem while distinctly representing our dedication to equity, inclusion, and student success. Its vibrant color palette reflects the energy, resilience, and cultural richness of the Latinx community, serving as a reminder of our responsibility to create an environment where all students feel valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. You will begin to see this mark across campus and in materials, serving as a visual reminder of our values and mission.

HSI Video: The identity mark is featured in a new video that celebrates and demystifies what it means for SRJC to be an HSI. Showcasing insights and perspectives from voices across the SRJC community, the video highlights the significance of this designation. Through this project, we hope to deepen understanding and inspire continued engagement in the work of serving and supporting students. The video was funded as part of SRJC's participation in the ACT HSIs: Advocate, Create, and Transform Hispanic-Serving Institutions to Improve Student Experiences grant project, reinforcing our commitment to equity and student success.

We invite you to view the video and learn more about SRJC’s HSI distinction:

We hope this video inspires conversations across our community about what it means to be an HSI and the many ways it enriches the SRJC experience. Thank you for being part of our journey as we continue to build an inclusive and supportive college community.

With gratitude,
