September 4, 2024, Santa Rosa, California – The Santa Rosa Junior College Theatre Arts Department is excited to announce the opening of its Fall 2024 season with the play "All in the Timing: An Evening of David Ives Comedies." The production premieres on Friday, October 4, 2024, and will be staged at the Frank Chong Studio Theatre in Burbank Auditorium.

Audiences can expect a delightful journey into a world of wit, whimsy, and wonder through this collection of six hilarious one-act plays. These plays explore the absurdity of human relationships, communication mishaps, and the quirks of existence itself.

From a couple on a first date who can reset and try again each time they say the wrong thing to an unconventional language instructor teaching a made-up language, each play showcases a masterclass in comedic timing and linguistic gymnastics. With clever wordplay, unexpected twists, and laugh-out-loud moments, "All in the Timing" promises an evening of uproarious entertainment that will leave audiences both charmed and delighted.

Emerson Reynolds, a recent graduate of Analy High School, takes on the role of the chimpanzee Kafka in "Words, Words, Words," a one-act play that toys with the Infinite Monkey Theorem—the idea that monkeys typing endlessly will eventually produce "Hamlet." Reynolds shares, "I’m looking forward to channeling my inner monkey. The play touches on the existentialist perspective of life as well as its absurdity."

The role of Sir David Attenborough in "Time Flies" will be portrayed by Orion Pudoff, a graduate of Credo High School and a Sebastopol resident. Pudoff expresses his excitement, saying, "I am thrilled to play David Attenborough, a figure I've admired for nearly my entire life. Some of my earliest memories are of watching Planet Earth on DVD and being in awe as this random British man explained the ecosystems of the Serengeti."

Student Maya Tuchband, a graduate of Petaluma High School, will play two roles: the love-seeking Betty in "Sure Thing" and the short-lived Mayfly in "Time Flies." Tuchband remarks, "I’m intrigued by the role of Betty, as it relies on quick changes in tactics. I'm also excited to bring May to life, incorporating movement and insect-like qualities into her character."

The production is directed by full-time faculty member Leslie McCauley, who highlights Ives' playful use of language. "Ives relishes in language and wordplay, even inventing a clever and funny new language called 'Unamunda' for The Universal Language," says McCauley. "The cast and I have been greeting each other with ‘Velcro! Bell Jar! Harvardyu?’ Translation: ‘Welcome! Good day! How are you?’”

Due to adult language and themes, this performance is recommended for audiences aged 13 and older. Parental discretion is advised.
