July 27, 2017 - Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) has announced the appointment of two deans and one director to lead key departments at the College.
Benjamin Goldstein, Dean, Agriculture/Natural Resources and Culinary Arts
Benjamin is an accomplished educational administrator and workforce development professional with a decade of leadership at the intersection of career technical education and training, economic development, and public policy. Goldstein has worked with or alongside industry trade associations, state agencies, federal government agencies, workforce investment boards, research and advocacy organizations, community-based organizations, union apprenticeship programs, four-year universities and community colleges.
He joins SRJC from Los Angeles Trade Technical College, where he served as Dean over several CTE programs including Construction, Applied Science, and Business, as well as Curriculum Dean. Previously he served for five years in the U.S. Department of Energy in the Obama Administration, managing workforce training activities to support new jobs in energy efficiency and renewable energy created as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Goldstein’s academic background is in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Sustainable Development. He holds a B.A. (with Honors) from UC Berkeley and an M.A. (with Honors) from American University in Washington, DC.
He is married and a father of a three-year old daughter. His hobbies include cooking, eating, and outdoor recreation.
Kerry Loewen, Dean, Arts & Humanities
Kerry Loewen served for five years as Chair for the Department of Media Arts & Technology at New Mexico Highlands University where he was a Professor of Media Arts. After earning an M.F.A. at San Francisco State University, he taught at San Francisco State University, City College of San Francisco, Foothill College, Diablo Valley College, and Eastern Oregon University.
Prior to entering academia, he worked in radio at KSJO-FM in San Jose and KZAM-FM in Seattle, he served for three years as station manager at KCMU-FM at the University of Washington and then worked for ten years in the commercial film industry. His photography has been recently exhibited at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and he currently has worked on the wall at LACMA, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Kerry has two sisters, several nieces, and nephews who graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College.
Tina Dodson, Director, Workforce Development and CTE Grants
Tina Dodson joins Santa Rosa Junior College after serving as the Workforce Development Manager at Diablo Valley College for the past four years. Prior to her position at DVC, she was the Career Center and Grants Manager at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA for seven years. Dodson received an M.A. in Education Counseling and a B.A. in Psychology from San Jose State University. She served as an academic counselor in the Peralta Community College District, and a career counselor at Ohlone College. Her experience working in career development and planning led to her interest in Career and Technical Education and advancement into management.
Dodson is married, has four daughters and two granddaughters. Her hobbies include traveling, hiking, kayaking and entertaining friends and family.
