SRJC and CSAC Partner to Promote Financial Aid Access

SRJC Students at Financial Aid Fun FairFebruary 11. 2026 -Santa Rosa, CA — Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), in partnership with the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC), hosted its annual Financial Aid Fun Fair and Cash for College Open House on Wednesday, February 11. The event brought together students, families, educators, and community leaders to promote college affordability and access to financial aid.

The day began with a press conference and welcome program that highlighted the importance of completing financial aid applications by the March 2 priority deadline. The press conference served as the official launch of a series of student-centered activities, including Cash for College workshops and the annual Financial Aid Fun Fair.

Financial aid is often the deciding factor in whether students can pursue higher education,” said Robert Ethington, Senior Dean of Students, who welcomed attendees on behalf of Santa Rosa Junior College. “This event brings together state partners, educators, and community organizations to make the process more accessible and to ensure students have the support they need to succeed.”

Featured speakers included representatives from the California Student Aid Commission, 10,000 Degrees, and SRJC leaders, who highlighted the life-changing impact of state financial aid programs and reinforced the vision to make college accessible and affordable for all.

Community partnerships, such as 10,000 Degrees, were recognized during the program for collaborating with local high schools to increase financial aid completion rates and college enrollment.

The California Student Aid Commission serves more than 2.2 million students annually and administers more than $3.9 billion in state financial aid programs, including Cal Grant, Middle Class Scholarship, and the California Dream Act Application. CSAC’s partnership with SRJC reflects a shared commitment to ensuring that cost is not a barrier to higher education.

“This collaboration highlights the strong work happening locally and reinforces our commitment to supporting students in Sonoma County and beyond,” said Dr. Daisy Gonzales. “By bringing resources directly to students and families, we are helping them take critical steps toward college success.”
