April 25, 2024, Petaluma, CA - The Spring Fashion Show is set to captivate audiences on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the scenic Rotary Plaza on the Santa Rosa Junior College Petaluma campus. This eagerly anticipated event, organized by the Fashion Studies Program, promises an evening of creativity and style, featuring garments and accessories meticulously crafted by students.
Embracing the enchantment of Lewis Carroll's timeless tale, the theme of this year's fashion show is "Through the Looking Glass," drawing inspiration from the whimsical world of "Alice in Wonderland." Attendees will be transported into a realm of wonder and fantasy, as the show unfolds against a backdrop of stunning set displays and fashion delights.
Emily Melville, Fashion Studies Program Coordinator and instructor of the Fashion Show class, expressed her enthusiasm for the venue choice, stating, "We are thrilled to host our Spring 2024 show at Rotary Plaza. Our students envisioned an outdoor space that resonated with the Wonderland-inspired theme. It's an exciting opportunity to showcase the beauty of the Petaluma campus gardens and architecture as the perfect setting for our fashion extravaganza." Student Venue Coordinator, Emily Brown, added, "As this marks the first outdoor fashion show for SRJC, it promises a fresh and exhilarating experience for our audience, whether they're newcomers or seasoned attendees."
The excitement continues beyond the runway, as awards will be presented for the Fashion Studies Design Contest during the event. Titled "This Must be the Lace," this year's contest challenges students to incorporate a minimum of 80% embroidered or lace fabric from the classroom into their winning designs. Additionally, the show will spotlight six mini-collections crafted by talented student designers.
Josh Kaspar, Co-director of the show and a student designer himself, emphasized the unique appeal of the event, saying, "What sets this show apart are the six student mini-collections. It's a fantastic opportunity to witness each designer's distinct vision come to life."
General admission tickets are priced at $15, with a special rate of $5 available for SRJC students. Tickets must be purchased online in advance through Eventbrite.
