January 12, 2022, Santa Rosa, CA - Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) invites Sonoma County community members to a Virtual Town Hall Meeting on a pilot project initiative between SRJC and the City of Santa Rosa aimed at improving pedestrian circulation and safety along Elliott Avenue. The meeting will be held on Zoom, Tuesday, January 18, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

The virtual town hall will provide updates on the Elliott Avenue Traffic Calming Pilot Project. “We had our first public open house meeting in 2019,” said Serafin Fernandez, Senior Director, Capital Projects, who said that new improvements at the Santa Rosa campus make this an ideal time to update the Elliott Avenue residents on the pilot project and proposed timeline.
“We have successfully completed two Measure H-funded projects along Elliott Avenue, the Emeritus Parking Lot Solar Project and Emeritus Circle Improvements,” Fernandez said. We also have many projects under construction at all campuses, with two major projects adjacent to Elliott Avenue: the Student Housing Project and the Measure H-funded Lindley Center for STEM Education.”
Measure H is the $410 million bond measure approved by voters in November 2014 to upgrade SRJC facilities and technology. SJRJ has leveraged Measure H funding in order to successfully pursue other funding sources. The student housing project is not a Measure H project but is financed and delivered through a public-private partnership.
SRJC President Frank Chong encourages Elliott neighbors and the greater Santa Rosa community to attend the virtual town hall and learn more about the pedestrian and safety benefits of the traffic calming pilot project, hear the work already underway by the district and the City of Santa Rosa, ask questions, and discuss concerns.
