August 23, 2022 Petaluma, CA — The Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Petaluma Campus will hold its Grand Re-Opening event on Saturday, September 24, 4-7pm, sponsored by Exchange Bank and hosted by the Friends of Petaluma Campus Trust (FPCT). The community is invited to attend the Building Futures fundraising event, which will be held in-person on the Petaluma campus. Funds raised will directly support four major areas: the SRJC Petaluma Student Center, Intercultural Center, Library and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) programs. The fall grand re-opening of the SRJC Petaluma campus represents the resumption of full slate in-person course offerings and the opening of new STEM and student support facilities.

KRON4’s award-winning journalist Ken Wayne returns as the Building Futures emcee and will preside over an evening of food, local wines, and the unveiling of a new, commissioned sculpture for the campus. Wayne will facilitate conversations with students and faculty about a variety of programs and personal stories, which have been supported by generous community giving. The evening will also feature STEM program demonstrations and campus tours of newly completed facilities, funded by Measure H. Local band Petty Rocks will provide musical entertainment.

The event is an opportunity for attendees to learn about the impact of SRJC Petaluma upon the surrounding community, as well as that of Measure H funded upgrades and improvements to the beautiful 28-year old, 40-acre campus located on Sonoma Mountain Parkway. Current campus needs that this event will help fund include: science equipment for newly constructed science classrooms, technology and equipment for the new Student Center, and support for the basic needs of students, including support for food, housing and transportation.

Executive Dean Dr. Matthew Long describes the changes on campus as nothing less than transformational.  “Students are thrilled with the new facilities that were created from the needs they voiced,” Long says. “All our buildings are integrated with support services that help our students succeed, such as our student peer coach program.  I can’t wait for the community to see what we are doing in partnership with their students.”

“We are proud to be the presenting sponsor for the SRJC Petaluma Building Futures event. We value our long-term partnership with the College and believe that supporting its multiple campuses and many programs benefits our entire community in countless ways,” said Troy Sanderson, CEO of Exchange Bank.

Tickets are $75 per person, and can be purchased online at the website BuildingFutures.us. Sponsorships are still available, with more information available on the website.
