Dear SRJC Community,
Tonight, Sonoma County voters approved Measure AB, an important investment in the future of Santa Rosa Junior College and the communities we serve.
I want to thank everyone who helped educate our community about the measure and the needs it was designed to address, as well as the voters who believed in the role of higher education in our community. I am especially grateful to Sarah Laggos and the SRJC Foundation for their leadership, dedication, and ongoing commitment to our college and students. My heartfelt thanks also goes to the community members, alumni, students, labor partners, business leaders, and local organizations who spoke up for SRJC and helped voters understand the role our college plays in Sonoma County.
Measure AB will provide resources to address critical infrastructure needs across our district, including facilities that support student learning, workforce education, and the preparation of future nurses, first responders, and other essential workers. It will help us maintain and improve the learning environments our students deserve while protecting the long-term value of our public college facilities.
This outcome reflects the community’s investment in SRJC and its belief in the opportunities a strong community college creates. We also recognize the responsibility that comes with that trust. Bond funds must be managed carefully, used for voter-approved purposes, and subject to the public oversight and accountability required by law.
We continue to face financial challenges in our operating budget. Measure AB does not resolve those challenges, and we will need to continue making difficult decisions to align our resources with our priorities. It does give us a way to address essential facilities needs without placing those costs entirely on our already constrained operating budget. More details about the launch of our next facilities planning process will be shared in early 2027.
Thank you for your continued work on behalf of our students and for everything you do to make SRJC a vital part of this community. I look forward to moving ahead together.
In community,
Dr. Garcia
