Banner Update: October 30, 2026

October 30, 2026
Dear SRJC Community,

This week, our Banner implementation work continued across enrollment, registration, and system integrations. Several items have advanced to testing or resolution, while others require additional investigation or validation by SRJC teams before they can be considered complete.

I also want to thank the employees and students who participated in end-to-end registration testing recently. Your time and feedback, including recommendations to improve wording and instructions, are valuable as we prepare for Spring 2027 registration.

Here is this week’s update across our five priority areas.

  1. Financial Aid – Work continues to address issues with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status in Banner. The team is conducting additional reviews and manual verification while working with Ellucian to identify and resolve the underlying issue and ensure students’ financial aid eligibility is accurately reflected.
  2. Enrollment - The Conditional Add/Drop issue has been reopened for further testing. A fix for a prerequisite issue in the Drop Report is awaiting SRJC validation, and the team continues investigating incorrect student drops.
  3. Spring Registration - Work continues on the Spring 2027 Fee Opt Out Survey. Configuration and automation are complete, but a related issue requires further investigation. Production deployment and testing are planned for the Fee Opt Out survey.
  4. Integrations - The DegreeWorks education plan integration has been moved to production. Testing continues on prerequisite functionality, including nursing prerequisites during bulk registration.
  5. User Experience/Accessibility - Improvements are underway to address browser translation, mobile registration warnings, survey instructions, and time-ticket error messages.

I received serious concerns from our counseling team this week about the ongoing impact of Banner on students and the employees who support them. Their experiences underscore the frustration many are feeling that make it difficult to resolve student issues efficiently. I recognize the toll this is taking on our faculty and staff and the students who depend on them, especially as we prepare for Spring 2027 registration. I have shared these concerns directly with Ellucian leadership and asked them to review the issues and identify meaningful solutions. Your input is valuable and helps to inform the solutions needed. I will continue to press for answers and enhancements to address these concerns. I know that I asked you to work with us to find solutions and to make this SIS platform better so that we can serve students.  I am committed to keeping open lines of communication to receive your input and share with our Ellucian colleagues.

Thank you to everyone who continues to share their experiences and advocate for students. I will continue to share updates as issues progress toward resolution.
