October 13, 2026, Update 1:53 pm
Dear SRJC Community,
I am pleased to share that the chemical spill in Lindley Center for STEM Education on the Santa Rosa campus has been resolved.
Earlier today, a spill in the stock room mixed chemicals together that prompted employees to contact District Police. After assessing the situation, District Police contacted the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Bomb Unit to support the cleanup and removal of the mixed chemicals. The Sheriff's Office utilized a robot to remove the chemicals outside to a safe location to neutralize the mixture. Out of an abundance of caution, the Sheriff's Office recommended the evacuation of the Lindley Center.
Based on the assessment conducted by first responders, there was no risk to the community or surrounding buildings at any time.
Classes can resume in the Lindley Center as planned after 4:30 pm.
I would like to recognize our SRJC District Police and the Sonoma County Sherriff’s Office Bomb Unit who quickly responded and helped mitigate the impacts of the chemicals. We appreciate the dedicated officers who work tirelessly to keep us safe every day.
