Dear SRJC Community,
In my August 25, 2026, communication, I shared how SRJC has been working closely with Ellucian to bring a dedicated team onsite to address the issues we face with Banner, while SRJC faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and students continue to identify issues from the student and employee perspective.
This update provides an overview of the first week of onsite activities with Ellucian's dedicated support team. Informed by SRJC users’ experiences, our current work focuses on the 5 areas identified as having the greatest impact on students and employees. Below is the progress that has been made in the first week:
- Financial Aid
- Made corrections to financial aid eligibility information based on current data, including corrections to COVID excused-withdrawal and transfer-credit records, and all financial aid disbursements, including Pell Grant and California College Promise Grant, are current and on track for usual disbursement.
- Additional financial aid eligibility corrections are now ready for the system to apply rather than manually, and SRJC is validating the correction.
- Enrollment
- Made corrections to drop and refund deadlines; the graduation application is available ahead of the September 15 transfer-degree deadline, and student health information is flowing correctly without manual workarounds, pending SRJC validation.
- Course sections with incorrect drop and refund dates have been corrected; catalog and transcript data cleanup is ready to load into Banner.
- Spring Registration
- Continued cleanup and validation of student-facing information in Self-Service to support accurate enrollment and registration, and improvements are focused on ensuring students receive accurate eligibility and enrollment information when registering for classes.
- Integrations
- Contract faculty placements will synchronize from Escape into Banner, student health data is flowing correctly between the systems pending SRJC validation, and federal draw-down reporting has been delivered to Student Accounts.
- User Experience
- Ellucian is delivering incremental accessibility improvements to Registration Self-Service, built to WCAG 2.2 AA standards. By October, we plan improvements to Registration Self-Service, including Prepare for Registration, Browse Classes, and Browse Course Catalog. We will continue to address additional accessibility improvements through Spring 2027 to further improve the overall experience.
I want to reiterate that these areas reflect input from the many channels informing our work, including IT tickets, direct communication from users, and feedback from faculty, staff, administrators, and students. Together, this input continues to inform how we address the five priority areas. I also want to acknowledge that efforts behind the priorities are fluid and can adapt as we identify underlying issues that also need to be addressed. For example, faculty have shared that the user experience for certifying their census roster is not intuitive or easy to navigate.
We test and validate every fix before we consider it complete to ensure technical changes deliver the expected experience for students and employees. In some cases, temporary manual workarounds will remain in place to ensure students receive the resources they need while we complete systemic changes.
Our immediate focus is on the issues that most directly affect students and employees, including providing a positive experience for Spring 2027 registration beginning with the schedule release on November 3, 2026. We continue to hear from students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators about the challenges they are experiencing, and their feedback is helping inform the solutions we are developing with Ellucian.
I remain committed to transparency and accountability and will continue to provide regular updates on our progress.
