Dear SRJC Community,
Welcome to the 2026 – 2027 academic year! It's a new school year, and we are so excited to have you as part of our SRJC community. SRJC is a college grounded in community, committed to academic excellence, and deeply committed to supporting students as they accomplish their goals.
We have prepared our lessons, our programs, and our services with students in mind. We know that they are capable of achieving excellence and are privileged to be a part of their journey. Whether they are taking a lifelong learning class, completing a certificate, associate degree, or preparing for transfer, we want all students to know that they belong at SRJC.
I opened our Professional Development Activities Day with a message about creating belonging, not only because it is our value, but because it is our strategy for student persistence, success, and completion. Creating belonging is an active process. It requires each of us to choose to be part of the energy and the work that creates engagement and community. It means investing in relationships and making space for different perspectives and meaningful connections.
We have a clear mission. We have dedicated employees who care deeply about this institution. We have resilient students who come to us with hopes and goals for a better future. And we have a community that believes in the transformative power of public higher education. Sonoma County believes in SRJC, and we believe in our community.
I am clear about the challenges ahead, and I will focus on providing leadership that supports student success and completion as the top priority. Let us choose to engage in choices that promote belonging because it leads to engagement. Engagement leads to student success. And student success ensures a thriving college.
That is the future I want us to build together.
In Community,
Dr. Angélica Garcia, Ed.D.
