March 26, 2026
Dear SRJC Community,
Santa Rosa Junior College will be closed on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. As Governor Newsom signed into law today, this day is now known as Farmworkers Day. Regular operations will resume on Wednesday, April 1, 2026.
This day honors generations of farmworkers and organizers who advanced workers’ rights and civil rights under challenging conditions. It reflects a collective movement shaped by the contributions of many, including Dolores Huerta, Larry Itliong, and César Chavez, along with the thousands of workers whose labor and sacrifice shaped this movement and continue to influence our communities today.
As shared previously, this moment also invites us to continue engaging with a fuller understanding of this history and how we recognize it. Our focus remains on honoring the broader farmworker movement and the communities that carried it forward.
The fight for fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity for workers continues today, and this day serves as a reminder of the role we each play in supporting equity and justice in our communities. In that spirit, I invite you to join us on Saturday, March 28, for the SRJC Roseland Welcome Center ribbon cutting. This new space reflects SRJC’s commitment to expanding access and strengthening connections in our community.
Thank you for taking the time to reflect and for the role you play in moving this work forward.
In Community,
Dr. Angélica Garcia, Ed.D.
