November 7, 2025
Dear SRJC Community,
In observance of Veterans Day, all Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) sites will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Veterans Day is a time to honor those who have served and to reflect on the fundamental rights and liberties that our veterans have bravely defended.
At SRJC, veterans are a part of the daily life of our college. They are students pursuing new goals, faculty and staff shaping learning environments, and alumni contributing to their communities. Their presence enriches us with perspectives forged through service, resilience, and leadership.
On a recent flight, I met a pilot and U.S. Air Force veteran who shared that attending a community college opened doors he hadn’t imagined – introducing him to people of all ages and backgrounds and giving him the confidence to transfer to UC San Diego and later serve in the Air Force. His story reminded me of how impactful community colleges can be on a student’s journey.
I also want to acknowledge the families of veterans who shoulder their own sacrifices in support of loved ones. Their strength and commitment are an inseparable part of every veteran’s story.
This Veterans Day, I encourage each of us to pause in gratitude and reflect on how we can continue to create a community where veterans feel respected, connected, and supported in their journeys. Through student support services such as SRJC’s Veterans Success Center in Plover Hall (Room 516), we strive to ensure that veterans have the resources to flourish beyond their military service.
To every veteran in the SRJC community: thank you. Your service has made a lasting impact, and we are proud to be a part of the next chapter of your journey.
In Community,
Dr. Garcia, Ed.D.
