Reminder: Great ShakeOut – Earthquake Alert Test & Drill Th 10/16/25

October 14, 2025
Dear SRJC Community,

This is a reminder that at 10:46 am on Thursday, October 16, 2025, we will test the SRJC alert emergency notification system and practice earthquake safety procedures across all campuses and sites as part of the International ShakeOut Day.

The test will prompt you to practice the "DROP, COVER & HOLD ON” drill and will take about five minutes to complete. While this is not an evacuation drill, we encourage you to take a moment to review evacuation routes in your building. Emergency Alert Notifications will be sent by text and email, and will also be broadcast through District office phones, appearing on screen and audibly over the speaker system.

Are you signed up for SRJC Alerts?

Employees’ work email accounts are automatically entered into the SRJC Alert system. However, due to privacy laws, employees must opt in if they wish to receive alerts by text on personal devices. Opting in ensures that potentially lifesaving notifications can reach you directly on your phone in the event of a disaster or emergency affecting SRJC.

There is an update to the opt-in procedure. If you have not opted in yet, please contact Bridget Hodenfield in Human Resources at bhodenfield@santarosa.edu.

Review the additional details on the drill below from the earlier message.  For more information on emergency planning and resources, visit SRJC’s Emergency Management website:  https://emergency-management.santarosa.edu/

Thank you for your assistance in making SRJC a safe and prepared community.
