June 8, 2022, Santa Rosa, CA — Santa Rosa Junior College’s (SRJC) Summer Repertory Theatre (SRT) is back. After years of pandemic restrictions and facility renovations, the company of professionals and students from across the country will inhabit Burbank Auditorium once again. SRT Festival audiences will enjoy four diverse productions in two state-of-the-art theatres this season.

“We are delighted to be returning to live theatre this summer and to welcome you back to our beloved Burbank Auditorium,” said SRT Artistic Director, James Newman. “It has been a long journey, as our last season in the facility was 2017, and we want to thank you for your patience, grace and loyalty.”

This year’s program includes “The Importance of Being Earnest,” Oscar Wilde’s, comedy of manners satirizing marriage, love and Victorian society. Rogers and Hammerstein’s musical, “Cinderella,” features its classic songs, but the fairy tale has been given a contemporary take and some new characters. “Sister Act” is a musical based on the comedic film written by Joseph Howard and starring Whoopie Goldberg. Rounding out the season is “Silent Sky,” by Lauren Gunderson, a play about a 19th-century woman who changed astronomy.

SRT is a professional summer-stock company that has produced plays and musicals since 1972. Students who have enrolled in the program over the years have received advanced training to support their career goals as teachers, actors, designers, directors, technicians, costumers, musicians and managers. After completion, they have been employed in schools, the television and movie industry and theatres across the nation.
