Dear SRJC Colleagues,
This June, as we honor Pride Month, we do so with a clear understanding of what our LGBTQIA2S+ community most urgently needs: connection, safety, and a genuine sense of belonging. A recent community-led assessment in Sonoma County confirmed that, beyond housing and economic stability, it is the presence of affirming community that most impacts the well-being of queer residents. At SRJC, we recognize that belonging is not a concept we talk about once a year. It is something we actively build every day through visibility and inclusive practices. Our Pride Month activities reflect that ongoing commitment to creating a college where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.
With that spirit in mind, I invite you to take part in two upcoming events that reflect the heart of who we are at SRJC: welcoming, inclusive, and committed to belonging.
- Pride Parade
On Saturday, May 31, SRJC will once again participate in the Sonoma County Pride Parade, and I would be honored to have you walk with us. This is a joyful opportunity to come together as a college and a community. By showing up in solidarity with the LGBTQIA2S+ community, we reaffirm our shared commitment to visibility, connection, and care.

- Pride Flag Raising Ceremony
Mark your calendars for Monday, June 2, at 1:00 PM, and join us for our Pride Flag Raising Ceremony at the lawn flagpole near Analy Hall. No registration is needed to attend—just bring your presence and your support. We invite you to stay afterward for conversation and community. Additional details will be shared soon.
Whether you identify as a member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, especially as an ally, your participation helps express the inclusive spirit that defines our campus.
Thank you for continuing to build a community where everyone belongs.
In community,
