SRJC Update: Federal Funding Directive Rescinded

January 29, 2025
Dear SRJC Colleagues,

Yesterday, I sent a communication regarding the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) having issued a sweeping memo (M-25-13) announcing a temporary pause on federal funding programs. The scope of this directive was broad and disruptive, raising significant questions and understandable concerns. The memo was limited to programs, projects, and activities implicated by the President’s Executive Orders. Additional guidance was issued which confirmed that federal financial aid to students will not be affected by the memo.

Earlier today, OMB Director Matthew Vaeth issued a short communication stating that Memo M-25-13 has been rescinded. He also noted that federal agencies should work with their general counsels to implement presidential executive orders. While this decision provides some immediate relief, we remain committed to working with our local and state partners to minimize any potential impact on students, employees, programs, and services.

We will continue to monitor any related federal directives and provide updates as we learn more and identify actionable steps.  We understand that this situation may have caused concern, and we appreciate your patience and engagement as we work through these developments.

Thank you for all that you do to serve students and the Sonoma County community.
