Dear SRJC Community,
Welcome to the Spring 2025 semester! I hope the winter break offered you a chance to rest, reflect, and reconnect with the people and activities that energize and inspire you. During the break, my family and I spent time cooking together, working on puzzles, and completing a variety of projects. One of my favorite family moments included joining colleagues to cook and enjoy a meal with Polly Hall residents on December 23rd.
As I reflect on the Fall 2024 semester, I am proud of the progress we’ve made toward fostering a culture that embodies our vision and values—one that is student-centered, equity-minded, and supportive of the success of every member of our community. Among the fall successes, we celebrated students during the nursing pinning ceremony, the basic police academy and firefighter graduation ceremonies, the fall theater and music productions, and the myriad of community events, from athletics to immigration rights workshops.
We made significant progress toward our institutional priorities, laying a strong foundation to build upon as we continue our work this semester. That foundation will test our resolve as the road ahead is paved with significant transition—both here at SRJC and across the nation. In these moments, it is important that we not be distracted by the unknowns and the “what-ifs.” Instead, we must stay focused on our goals, communicate openly, and offer mutual support to navigate this period with resilience and clarity.
Our mission is clear: Santa Rosa Junior College transforms the lives of our culturally rich student body, employees, and community by cultivating a welcoming and antiracist environment, centered on social responsibility and cultural awareness. We offer exceptional teaching and learning in support of associate degree, certificate, transfer preparation, workforce preparation and community education programs, integrated with comprehensive student support services.
Thank you for your passion, hard work, and unwavering dedication to our mission. You are what makes it possible for SRJC to support students and our broader community. I look forward to all that we will accomplish this semester.
In Community,
Dr. Garcia
