SRJC Spring Jazz Combos Concert on May 6

April 26, 2022, Santa Rosa, CA – The Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Music Department will present their Jazz Combos Spring Concert, directed by Bennett Friedman, on Friday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Newman Auditorium on the Santa Rosa campus.

SRJC’s Jazz Combos recently appeared at the CSU East Bay Jazz Festival where the festival director proclaimed SRJC’s performance one of the best ever at the festival. The Combos have been working, this semester, with guest artists Jeff Denson, Dean of Instruction at the California Jazz Conservatory, and Akira Tana, internationally known percussionist.

The concert will feature the premiere performance of student composition, “Something Cooler,” by saxophonist Logan Miro. Other selections will include original arrangements of jazz standards and new works for jazz combos.

The Jazz Combos Spring Concert will be held in Newman Auditorium on the Santa Rosa campus. Admission is $10. There is currently no fee for parking on campus. Tickets will only be available at the door. Concert proceeds benefit the SRJC Jazz Studies Fund.
