March 28, 2022 - Santa Rosa, CA —The Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Alex Ling Bakery in the Burdo Culinary Arts Center is re-opening to the public on Thursday, April 7 after a two-year closure due to the pandemic.

The SRJC Alex Ling Bakery features a variety of freshly baked artisan bread, pastries, cookies, and cakes made by students in the school's Baking and Pastry Program. They employ techniques used for classic French pastries and give them a modern American twist. Bakery offerings change weekly, reflecting the students’ training and allowing them to demonstrate their artistic skills and imagination.

“Our students can’t wait to roll out the red carpet for our bakery customers,” said Chef/Instructor Cindy Mushet. “They love making their creations knowing they will be appreciated and enjoyed by the public. It gives them confidence and great satisfaction.”

Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan selections will be available. Customers may purchase items for take-out or to enjoy on the Culinary Center’s patio.

Bakery hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, from April 7 through May 20.

The SRJC Culinary Café and Alex Ling Bakery is located in the Burdo Culinary Arts Center at 1670 Mendocino Avenue, directly across from the Santa Rosa campus, at Carr Avenue.

The Culinary Café will re-open on September 15, 2022.
