SRJC Petaluma’s Annual LumaFest Celebrates Community Through Culture and Learning

Lumafest 2024September 30, 2025, Petaluma, CA — Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) Petaluma will welcome the community to its annual LumaFest Educational Open House and El Día de los Muertos Community Celebration on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The free, family-friendly event blends cultural traditions with opportunities to explore SRJC Petaluma’s programs and community partnerships. 

LumaFest highlights SRJC Petaluma’s role as a hub for learning and connection, while honoring the rich cultural traditions of Día de los Muertos. The campus, located at 680 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, is a space where education, culture, and community come together. 

This year, explore exciting themed zones throughout the event:

  • El Mercantil (Vendor Marketplace) – Local artisans, crafts, and unique offerings from local vendors and small businesses
  • Zoológico Educativo (Educational Animal Zone) – Meet animals from SRJC’s Veterinary Technician program, visit the Cuddle Shuttle, and meet some creatures with the Classroom Safari.
  • Calle del Saber (Street of Learning) – Connect with faculty and staff, discover SRJC programs and career pathways, and learn how SRJC Petaluma can support your goals.
  • Niños y Familias (Children and Families) – Hands-on activities and kid-friendly fun. educational activities.
  • Plaza del Espectáculo (Plaza of Performances) – Live music and performance celebrating Día de los Muertos.
  • Corazón Comunitario (Community Heart) – Local nonprofits, public agencies, and the Sonoma County Library’s BiblioBus mobile library.
  • Mercado del Sabor (Market of Flavor) – Food trucks serving local favorites.
  • Avenida de Recuerdos (Avenue of Remembrance) – Community ofrendas and altars in Mahoney Library.

 

The event will take place rain or shine, with activities held indoors and under covered walkways. The celebration is alcohol-free, family-friendly, and open to the public at no cost.. Service animals are welcome; pets are not permitted. No tickets or registration are required.
